Krista is a registered School and Clinical (child and youth) Psychologist. She provides comprehensive Psychological and Psycho-educational Assessments for school age children (elementary to secondary grades) and postsecondary students (college and university). Her areas of focus include: Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Giftedness, AD/HD, and social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Having worked in the Psychology Department of a School Board for the past 21 years, and being the Head Psychologist for 16 years, she has a thorough knowledge of the types of services, accommodations, modifications, and supports available to students with learning and/or social, emotional or behavioural functioning difficulties.
Dr. Kiffner also has extensive experience consulting with parents, school staff, and community agencies/professionals in developing treatment plans for children and youth. She provides individual therapy to children and youth struggling with anxiety using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach. She also provides psycho-education to their parents to assist them with understanding their child’s anxiety, how families can get stuck in a worry cycle, and how they can foster their child’s ability to take action and approach anxiety provoking situations rather than avoid them.
Finally, Dr. Kiffner provides professional trainings and workshops to parents, school staff, and mental health professionals in the areas of: Anxiety, AD/HD, Executive Functioning, Learning Disabilities, Violence Threat Risk Assessment, Suicide Intervention Skills Training, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
